“What’s interesting about what’s happening right now is the dynamic between the brothers. They are starting to really bond,” Ian Somerhalder tells TVGuide.com. “A tease about the episode coming up is really about these brothers overcoming their disdain for each other and ultimately realizing that family is really embedded into the fabric of who we are and if you can connect with that it’s really powerful.”

“This whole Damon-Elena-Stefan thing is coming to a head,” Somerhalder says. “Stefan knows that there are feelings flying around between the three of them and he’s man enough to understand that this is a symptom of love and how complicated it can be.”

Paul Wesley adds, “Stefan and Damon will always love each other, but they’ll always be in love the same girl. They’ll die that way or they’ll live that way for the rest of their lives.”
