E! Online sat down with both Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder at The CW Upfronts to talk about the big season finale and redemption;
Attention Emmy voters, it’s time for you to recognize the brilliance that Nina Dobrev has been serving up on The Vampire Diaries this season!
Seriously, the girl acted her face off in the episode where Elena’s brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) died on the CW hit, and we couldn’t help but gush all over her tear-inducing performance when we caught up with Dobrev on the red carpet at the CW’s upfront presentation in New York City. And guess what? We weren’t the only ones sobbing!“The experience of reading that script for the first time in our read-through, I’ve never gone through that in my entire life,” she tells us. “I literally started sobbing uncontrollably as I was reading it.”
While Dobrev wouldn’t spill on which brother Elena chooses (duh!), she does reveal it’s not an easy decision.
“It’s like any relationship. There’s a different connection you have with different people, and I think that Elena had a certain connection with Stefan that was very profound and with Damon it was more excitable,” she says. “Between the two of them, unfortunately, they’re the perfect man, so it’s hard. Maybe she needs to go out and explore other things and discover herself.
“Damon’s grown a lot. It’s about the push and the pull of him really wanting her to be this creature, because her feelings ultimately changed for Stefan, which was very good for Damon, but in all actuality even Damon knows it’s not right; what happened to this young, beautiful woman and watching her deteriorate and fall apart, it’s heartbreaking to see,” Somerhalder previews what fans can expect from Elena’s choice between the two brothers in the finale. “By virtue of that, there’s redemption in some ways.”

Elena will make her decision in the season finale. Which Salvatore brother will she pick, or will she decide to leave them? Nina sits down with Hollywoodlife to discuss Elena’s choice;
Thanks to master-teaser Julie Plec, we know that Elena (Nina Dobrev) will be forced to choose — once again — between Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley) on the May 16 season finale of The Vampire Diaries, but it’s still anyone’s guess which brother will reign supreme at the end of the hour. Tired of waiting, we went straight to Nina for her thoughts.
“I would like Elena to go to Europe and go backpacking for a year,” Nina told HollywoodLife.com on May 3 at the Origins GinZing launch in NYC. ”[She should] ditch the boys and experience some life without the vampires.”
Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Arrive to Elton John’s Oscar Viewing Party 2013, they arrive with executive producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson, and we can also spot Matt Davis very, very quick. Click here to watch it on Youtube or watch the embed below
I found a video featuring Nina Dobrev where we can spot her doing some awesome work at her photoshoot of Ocean Drive. Click here to watch it on Youtube or watch the embed below;
“We visited the set last week and — in addition to getting some scoop on Tyler’s return — we also got to watch Nina Dobrev pull double-duty as she filmed a scene for episode 418, “American Gothic.” In the past, we’ve seen Katherine pretend to be Elena plenty of times, but now, we’ll get to see Elena’s best impression of Katherine. Katherine didn’t seem too impressed by the likeness, though… she thinks Elena’s innocence will be a dead giveaway. (Not to mention her haircut.)”
Tyler’s return was teased in the spoilers, and it has been revealed that he will be seen again on this series in the near future, and it is possible fans won’t see him again on the series in season four. However, Tyler and Klaus are not done with each other yet. It has been teased in previous spoilers that Tyler could pop up on “The Originals” on CW.

Death has loomed large over Elena Gilbert since The Vampire Diaries pilot, but absolutely nothing will compare with the pain she’s forced to endure now that her brother, Jeremy, has fallen victim to vampires.
The shocking death not only devastated fans, but the actors — Steven McQueen included — as well. And anyone assuming TVD finds a way to make the best of a bad situation is wrong. Dead wrong. According to Nina Dobrev things are about to get real dark for Elena, whose grief will make her unrecognizable to fans in the coming weeks.
ETonline: This season has been a thrill from the start. What’s your feeling about season four?
Nina Dobrev: It’s been really cool, especially because you always hear actors say doing a TV show for X amount of years can be boring and repetitive, but over the last four years, Elena has been changing and evolving and growing so much. Julie [Plec, executive producer] has done such an incredible job of keeping it fresh and exciting and making me excited to come to work every day. Especially this season — and especially with the death of Jeremy. Between last week’s episode and this week’s, it’s been very challenging for me as an actress, but very fulfilling. It’s an emotional rollercoaster and I had to go to some dark places.ETonline: What was your reaction to finding out Jeremy would be killed?
Dobrev: I think we were all shocked and surprised, but that’s the show — it’s a vampire show, people have to die all the time. And for Elena, it was very important that she lose Jeremy for what she’s about to go through. It becomes a big part of her journey. I know Steven was very bummed, but also excited because he had a lot to do leading up to it — his character grew and became so strong. It’s bittersweet but made for some amazing television.ETonline: In many ways, Jeremy was the person who really kept Elena tethered to her humanity. Will this loss threaten to make Elena embrace the less desirable sides of vampirism?
Dobrev: Jeremy was the last person she had left, so it’s very likely that Elena could go off the deep end now that she doesn’t have the one thing that kept her human. Elena wants to protect the people she loves and saw this new-found strength as a way to protect everyone. But, in this case, she couldn’t protect Jeremy and lost the only family member she had left. She won’t take it lightly. It’s going to destroy her.
